New article is out! 🪞✨ I had the honor of writing New article is out! 🪞✨ I had the honor of writing about Jesús “Cepp” Selgas (Jesús Selgas Cepero) and his powerful survey at the American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora for Art Miami Magazine: “A 40-year mirror of exile, desire, and design—seen up close.” Across painting, tapestry, collage, and object-based work, Cepp turns a life marked by migration, sexual identity, and resistance into a precise visual language — a mirror where biography, design, and Cuban memory collide. Standing in those galleries felt like being inside four decades of looking, longing, and rebuilding. So grateful to spend time with this work and the stories behind it. Here are 5 qualities of a true creator I’m leaning into after that event👇 1️⃣ Hunger to grow – Never “arrived.” Always asking: What can I learn? In curating this exhibition, I brought together five Miami-based artists whose work explores identity through family, migration, memory, and the traditions we inherit and transform. Across photography, painting, textiles, mixed media, and installation, their works consider how we make a home between cultural worlds. In my latest for Artburst Miami, I reflect on Light of the World at the Olga M. and Carlos A. Saladrigas Art Gallery—an exhibition that traces the figure of Christ across centuries, cultures, and visual traditions. What emerges is not a singular image, but a continuum: from Russian icons to Renaissance painting, from the Cuzco School to contemporary practices, each work offering a distinct encounter with the divine.  This is not simply a survey of sacred art—it is an invitation to consider how image becomes devotion, how representation becomes prayer. Across time, artists have not only depicted Christ, but have sought to understand Him—materializing faith through form, surface, and light. Within the context of Miami, the exhibition resonates even more deeply—bridging Latin American, European, and diasporic traditions into a shared spiritual language. Under the Red Tent is not simply an exhibition—it Under the Red Tent is not simply an exhibition—it is a space of gathering, of memory, of quiet resistance. In one of my recents for @artburstmiami , I explore how fiber becomes language—how thread carries stories of labor, identity, and intergenerational connection. What unfolds at @thecampgallery is an environment shaped not by singular authorship, but by collective presence.  Bringing together more than twenty women artists, the exhibition transforms the gallery into a living, evolving site—where material, voice, and experience are continuously woven together.  Here, the red thread is both symbol and structure: of care, of vulnerability, of strength. It reminds us that meaning is not made in isolation, but through the act of coming together. New article is live on Artburst Miami 🔥🧵 I wrote New article is live on Artburst Miami 🔥🧵 I wrote about Zoë Buckman’s solo exhibition “Who By Fire” at Mindy Solomon Gallery—where the domestic becomes devotional, and vintage linens turn into a vigil stitched with grief, love, identity, and survival. The show draws its title from Leonard Cohen’s reworking of the High Holiday prayer Unetaneh Tokef, and Zoë translates that spiritual weight into a bold textile language of ink, paint, appliqué, and dense hand-embroidery.  And yes: Zoë is as rad as the work.
